Charly Wenzel hails from Munich, Germany. She started dancing at the age of six and passed exams of the Royal Academy of Dancing. She was a dancer at the Munich State Opera and graduated from the Iwanson School of Contemporary Dance in Germany. The school awarded her with a scholarship for studies at Ballet Academy Stockholm. Charly then moved to New York City to be a full-time student at the Alvin Ailey School.
Upon completion of the program, she performed with numerous dance companies and independent choreographers in the NYC area. Charly toured internationally with Japanese singer Yoko Ishida, appeared on MTV and choreographed and danced for several recording artists. She was featured in a number of films and in Dance Spirit Magazine.
Charly is the Associate Artistic Director of NAGANUMA Dance. Simultaneously she is working on her own projects in collaboration with music and film artists. Her own choreographies have been shown in opera productions, culture competitions, and TV productions in Germany and all over and around New York City.
